Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. was formed in 1997 with the merger of the broadcast group of The Hearst Corporation and Argyle Television, Inc., a Nasdaq company. The Company is majority-owned by The Hearst Corporation. In 1998, Hearst-Argyle transferred from Nasdaq to the New York Stock Exchange and, in 1999, it completed two major TV-station group acquisitions, roughly doubling in size.
